Does the Oh Plah! contain PVC, BPA, or phthalates?
No, all Oh Plah! Teething bracelets are made from medical grade thermoplastic and are free of additives like phthalates, BPA, and heavy metals.
Is Oh Plah! safe for babies?
Yes! All Oh Plah! teething bracelets have been run through an independent US material testing lab to ensure that they meet or exceed all current and upcoming standards of both the American Society for Testing and Materials (www.astm.org) and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (www.cpsc.gov). In addition to meeting or exceeding the regulatory standards for the U.S., all Oh Plah! bracelets meet or exceed the safety standards of Canada and the European Union. Meeting all of these standards proves that both the materials and the design of the product are completely safe for your baby.
What material was used for the bracelet?
All Oh Plah! teething bracelets are constructed of medical grade thermoplastic. This material is non-toxic and free of BPA, phthalates, latex, lead and other heavy metals. It has undergone rigorous testing to be sure that it is biocompatible and completely safe.
Why didn't you choose silicone for the Oh Plah?
We chose thermoplastic over silicone because it's recyclable, and it won't stretch out or lose its shape over time.
Will it still look good after a baby has chewed on it?
Yes. There is no surface coating on the bracelets, so the color will never chip or scrape away. The Oh Plah! is extremely durable, and the bracelet will retain its shape and show little to no signs of wear once babies bite it, twist it, and squish it over and over again.
Do babies and kids like it?
They love it! It's squishy and fun! The cuff style shape of the bracelet allows a baby and/or a child to pull, squeeze, squash, and twist the piece (which gives babies fun practice in developing fine motor skills, too!). The graphics on three of the Oh Plah! bracelets provide textures and offer multiple surfaces for a child to explore. And the smooth, flexible plastic is comfortable and soothing for babies to chew.
Will it fit my wrist?
Because it is a cuff style bracelet, Oh Plah! bracelets will fit most wrist sizes. They have a wrist-hugging cuff style which can easily be placed on or taken off of a wrist. The opening in the back is small enough to remain secure around a smaller wrist, yet the plastic is sufficiently flexible to accommodate a larger wrist.
Is it comfortable to wear?
Yes. Although they are bold and make a statement, they are very lightweight. The material is satiny soft, and there are smooth angles and edges so that they won't catch or pull on clothing.
Why does it have a hole in the back?
The opening in the handle was carefully designed to be easy for babies to grab, maintain their grasp, and fit comfortably in their hand. It also provides an easy way to attach the Oh Plah! to a clip on a carrier or activity mat if desired.
Can I put my Oh Plah! in the dishwasher?
No. The color and appearance of the bracelet will be affected if you expose it to high temperatures. To maintain the beauty of your bracelet, please hand wash it with soap and water.
Can I put my Oh Plah! in the freezer?
Yes. Your bracelet will stiffen somewhat, but remain flexible. Once it warms up, its original feel will return.
Can I sterilize my Oh Plah! bracelet by boiling it?
No. The color and appearance of the bracelet will be affected if you expose it to high temperatures. Please clean it by hand washing it with soap and water instead.
How can I keep my Oh Plah! free from germs?
The material used to make the Oh Plah! bracelets exhibits excellent bacteria resistance. Simply hand washing your bracelet in soap and water will keep it clean for your baby.
How can I make sure that my Oh Plah! gets recycled?
Take advantage of our Roundhouse Full Circle(TM) program. You can ship your Oh Plah to us at our expense so that we can recycle it into new products. Click here (link) for your postage paid label.
Why is the Oh Plah! best for babies who are 3-months and up?
Around 3-months of age, babies start to be able to grasp toys and bring objects to their mouths. This would be a great time to introduce the Oh Plah! to your baby. But it's also a fun toy that will engage older babies and toddlers; it's great for dress-up for older children; and it's even a great way to keep an adult's hands busy during a dull class or meeting, too!
Will there be other styles/colors?
Yes, we'll continue to add to our product line. We'll be designing beautiful motifs and choosing great colors to complement the latest fashion trends each season. Please contact us to let us know what you might like to see next!
When will new styles or colors be available?
We are planning on adding to our product line each year. New Oh Plah! bracelets will be available for the spring/summer and fall/winter seasons.
What does Oh Plah! mean?
Oh Plah! is a French term for "Here you go!" Caryn would hear her French friend, Aude, say this to her kids as she handed them toys, snacks, etc., and thought, "ah-ha!" Much more fun, n'est-ce pas?
FAQ's ABOUT THE ROUNDHOUSE BABY CARRIER
Do your carriers come in different sizes?
The Roundhouse Baby Carrier easily adjusts to fit most (cinch it smaller for a closer carry, let it out for more room), making it comfortable to wear in any carrying position. Now you only need one carrier to share!
How can I be sure my baby is secure in the carrier?
In addition to adjusting the overall length of the carrier, you can adjust the side rails to create a comfortable, safe and custom fit. Before using the carrier, please take the time to read the carrier's instruction booklet and view the wearing videos on our site (link), so that you become comfortable and confident with the recommended positions. Always be sure your baby is properly positioned in the Roundhouse carrier, so he or she remains safe and secure.
Why is your carrier better?
Our carrier combines the adjustability and safety of a front carrier with the ease of use and comfort of a sling. We call it the hybrid of baby carriers. It has multiple safety features and is ergonomically designed to reduce back strain. There is a built in nursing shield, and the carrier can be used from birth to 35 lbs.
How does the built in nursing shield work?
Using the upright cradle or cradle carry, position baby deeper in the carrier and cinch it closer. Fan the excess fabric out and up, using it as a cover while baby nurses securely inside.
How do I wash my Roundhouse Baby Carrier?
We recommend machine wash cold, air dry. Do not bleach.
Is it hard to use the baby carrier? What's the learning curve like?
Any caregiver can learn how to use the carrier. If you take the time to read our instruction booklet and view our videos, you should be able to start using your carrier very quickly. Getting used to putting you baby in any carrier takes some time, practice and patience. Experiment with the different carries to find one that suits you and your baby.
How long can I use my Roundhouse Baby Carrier?
You can wear your baby in your carrier from newborn to 35 lbs. There are 6 carry positions: As your baby grows, your favorite position will most likely change, so keep trying new ones.
Can I participate in strenuous activities while wearing my baby in the carrier?
We do not recommend participating in any rough sports or activities while using the carrier. Please take the time to read our safety recommendations
FAQ's ABOUT ROUNDHOUSE DESIGN COLLABORATIVE
Where does the name "Roundhouse" come from?
Caryn had her start in design when her parents bought a plot of land in the woods of northern Pennsylvania and built a geodesic dome (in other words, a round house). At an early age, Caryn came to understand that great, thoughtful design doesn't need to follow convention. Based on this creative foundation, roundhouse seemed like the perfect name.
What do you mean, "Design Collaborative"? Can I become a designer?
The spirit of Roundhouse is that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. We believe that inspiration and great ideas can strike in a myriad of situations, and we help these ideas to fruition. If you want to talk with us about your next best thing, please contact Caryn.
Where is the company based?
Roundhouse Design Collaborative is based on the beautiful Connecticut shoreline.
Do you ship overseas?
Currently we only ship to U.S. and Canada. This can change quickly, so please email us with any details or questions.
Are your products environmentally safe or friendly?
Social and environmental stewardship is a cornerstone of Roundhouse. To that end, we design with our footprint in mind: We have six organic options on our Roundhouse Baby Carriers, we created the Oh Plah! to be fully recyclable, and we've implemented the Roundhouse Full Circle Recycling program. Additionally, our packaging is minimal and/or reusable, and we print on recycled paper using vegetable based inks. Read more about our social and environmental commitment. (link to stewardship page)
